The Rabbinical Council of America, the leading organization of Orthodox rabbis in North America, congratulates Mr. Donald J. Trump on his election as the 45th president of the United States.
Rabbi Shalom Baum, president of the RCA, said “We are living at a time of great divide in our country and during a period of increasingly hostile rhetoric. Mr. Trump himself often described the United States as a divided nation. We must now all work together, from the multiple branches of government to the street, to heal the many critical divisions and to find ways to increase cooperation and further mutual respect in speech and deed.”
Rabbi Elazar Muskin, vice president of the RCA, said, “Jewish tradition bids us to pray for the welfare of the country in which we live, as well as for its leaders. We now pray for the success of the Trump administration and the president-elect so that they may formulate and execute policies that promote domestic and international security, economic and social welfare, and a society in which all its people can live with fairness and respect. We call upon Mr. Trump to stand by his promises to support a strong and safe State of Israel, America’s strong and vital ally.”
