RCA Strongly Supports Efforts Towards Spiritual Absorption of Ethopian and Soviet Jews Into Israeli Society
Jun 1, 1991 — Whereas Soviet Jews coming to Israel have been denied their Jewish religious heritage and Ethiopian Jews have been isolated from mainstream Jewish life for many centuries Therefore, the Rabbinical Council of America, in convention assembled, expresses its deep concern for these and other Jews estranged from our Torah and tradition. Strongly supports the efforts of klitah ruchanit, the spiritual absorption of our people into their heritage as well as their homeland. Fully supports the heroic efforts of institutions and organizations working for the spiritual absorption of the immigrants. Urges our members to support Ezra Fund, which is our modality for this work. Calls upon the Jewish Agency to pay particular attention to spiritual absorption and to fulfill their part of the agreement that a percentage of Operation Exodus funds will be made available for these programs. |
