Israel and The United States (1991)

RCA Urges Members and Congregations to Communicate Our Community’s Viewpoint on Israel to Elected Officials

Jun 1, 1991 — Whereas Israel has been the most consistent ally of the United States of
America, and
Whereas Israel suffered significant damage and suffering in the Persian Gulf War, acceding to the American request that it not respond, lest the Arab allies be “offended,” and,
Whereas Israel is prepared to sit down and discuss peace directly with its neighbors and
Whereas Israeli settlers are unjustly referred to as obstacles to peace by Secretary of State James Baker
Therefore, the Rabbinical Council of America, in convention assembled,
calls upon our community to continue to communicate our viewpoints to elected officials and to let our officials know that our views will be expressed in every fashion that we determine will be most effective and productive.
