November 4, 2021 – As part of the RCA’s important interfaith work as a member of IJCIC (The International Jewish Committee for Interreligious Consultations), RCA Executive Vice President and IJCIC Vice Chair Rabbi Mark Dratch (fourth from the right) met with Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew (center), the primus inter pares in the Eastern Orthodox Church and the spiritual leader of the Eastern Orthodox Christians worldwide.
IJCIC is the recognized representative of world Jewry in its dialogues with the Vatican, Ecumenical Patriarchate, and World Council of Churches. The consortium of 11 Jewish organizations was founded in 1970, in response to the dramatic, positive transformation of Christian attitudes toward Jews and Judaism, notably the Roman Catholic Church’s Nostra Aetate.
