March 14, 2012United State Memorial Day and Shavuot in 2012 – and every year
On March 14, 2012, the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America unanimously approved the following:
As the U.S. Memorial Day this year (2012) falls out on the Shavuot Yizkor day, the RCA encourages its U.S. members to welcome Jewish War Veterans to participate in Yizkor services that will also memorialize those who have made the supreme sacrifice while serving in the Armed Forces of the United States.
The RCA further recommends to its members that this be an ongoing Yizkor remembrance, not just limited to this Memorial Day.
