Resolution on Resolutions 1989

Jun 1, 1989 — Resolution on Resolutions

We the members of the Rabbinical Council of America call upon our leadership to give us all an opportunity to intelligently and effectively participate in the process of creating and determining the annual resolutions of our organization which in their totality reflect the stands and principles of our organization.

Therefore we urge the following:

1. That the convention resolutions chairman and his committee be appointed no later than at the end of the Mid-winter Conference, preferably at the end of the annual convention.

2. That he and his committee be directed to write and seek resolutions from the membership as well as write ones they deem important.

3. That these resolutions be circulated to the membership at least 60 days in advance of the convention for suggestions and critique.

4. That the plenary session dealing with the resolutions begin early in the convention in on and off election years giving those attending the convention a full opportunity to consider and vote on all resolutions.

Even with all the above, we recognize and accept that some resolutions cannot be written in advance but most be responded to current events.
