Jun 1, 1997 — Regulation of T. V. Programming
The Rabbinical Council of America, in convention assembled, wishes to support those attempts to regulate television in ways that will limit material that is offensive from appearing on he public airwaves. Whether it involves V -chip technology, restoring the family hour — from 8 to 9 pm –as a time when families can avoid matters of a sexual or violent nature, whether it is implementing a far more thorough rating system than the one presently in place, the Rabbinical Council of America supports any and all such attempts which will enhance the decency of our most widespread and important public communications medium.
