The Rabbinical Council of America extends its heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims of today’s horrific attack on the Otzar Hatorah school in Toulouse, France. We pray for the speedy recovery of the wounded. We express our fullest support and prayers for the Jewish community of Toulouse in particular, and of France in general. And we commend the Government of France for its commitment to assist the victims while also taking the necessary steps to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.
Whatever the background or motives of those who are responsible for this heinous attack, there can be no justification for such murderous acts. Those who seek to drive us apart, for whatever reason, will succeed only in bringing us together in shared commitment to building a world at peace, in which peoples of every faith, creed, or national origin will live together in mutual respect and tolerance of our differences.
The Rabbinical Council of America will continue to encourage all of its member rabbis and their institutions around the world, including in Europe, to take the necessary steps to ensure the security and well-being of their members, visitors, and neighborhoods, working in full cooperation with local and national law enforcement bodies.
