April 7, 2022 – In recent months the Religious Zionist community has engaged in intense and passionate debate regarding proposed reforms to the conversion process in Israel. While the issues surrounding the legislation are nuanced and complex, what is indisputable is that the underlying challenge it seeks to address is significant and that there is no consensus on a solution. In light of this reality, the Rabbinical Council of America believes that only the principal parties, namely the Chief Rabbi and Minister Matan Kahana, along with their advisors, have the ability to craft an approach that will answer the halachic, societal, and political concerns. We strongly encourage them to work together expeditiously to resolve this ongoing crisis.
