RCA Applauds US Support for Jerusalem

February 9, 2021 – The Rabbinical Council of America, the leading membership organization of orthodox rabbis in North America, welcomes President Joseph Biden’s statement that will not relocate the United States embassy from Jerusalem, and Secretary of State Antony Blinken’s statement affirming the Biden administration’s position that Jerusalem is the capital of the State of Israel.

The RCA further welcomes the near unanimous vote in the Senate which adopted a motion put forward by Senators Jim Inhofe of Oklahoma and Bill Hagerty of Tennessee, to keep the United States Embassy, moved from Tel Aviv in 2018, in Jerusalem.

Rabbi Daniel Korobkin, president of the RCA, said, “We celebrate the bipartisan support of the United States government for the State of Israel with Jerusalem as its eternal capital. For over 3,000 years, since King David established Jerusalem as the capital of the Jewish people, the city has served as the center of Jewish religious worship. Even after the destruction of the Temples and for almost 2,000 years of Jewish diaspora, Jewish hearts yearned to return to the holy city and Jewish eyes turned to her in prayer three times a day. After a long exile, Jerusalem was reestablished as the center of Jewish sovereignty. We applaud the statements of the administration and the overwhelming vote by the Senate supporting the Jewish state and the integrity of the city of Jerusalem.”
