WHEREAS members of the Jewish community, like people everywhere, during the course of life face personal crisis, i.e. loss of a loved one, illness, and aging, and WHEREAS members of the Jewish community in the circumstances of their lives often struggle with family problems, including marital discord, divorce, parent-child conflict, etc., and WHEREAS members of the Jewish community are increasingly being affected by substance abuse, depression, and other maladies of the society at large, and WHEREAS the Rabbi in his capacity as spiritual leader needs to be responsibility to the Jewish community as a caregiver and to provide a religious response to the human situation, BE IT HEREBY RESOLVED that the Rabbinical Council of America form a Pastoral Education Committee for the purpose of providing a forum to enhance the Rabbi’s work as a caregiver to the Jewish community. |
