Rabbi Ronnie Warburg

Rabbi Dr. Ronnie (A. Yehuda) Warburg served for over a decade as a dayan (arbitrator) at the Beth Din of America in New York City and serves on various ad hoc panels (zablas) serving the hassidic, modern orthodox and yeshiva communities and currently serves as the director and a dayan for the International Beit Din located in New York City which deals with matters of Jewish divorce. For over fifteen years he had served as a research fellow at the Institute of Jewish Law at Boston University School of Law. A series of beit din decisions in commercial and family matters authored by Rabbi Warburg appeared in his books entitled Rabbinic Authority: The Vision & the Reality, Beit Din decisions in English. Recently, Rabbinic Authority, vol. 3 appeared which is devoted exclusively to Jewish divorce and the Agunah. For over two decades, Rabbi Warburg has delivered classes in Hoshen Mishpat(Jewish commercial law) & Even Haezer (Jewish family law) to Yeshiva University’s rabbinical ordination students. Rabbi Warburg has published numerous articles in refereed journals such as Israel Law Review, Dinei Yisrael, The Jewish Law Annual, Tradition, Hakirah, And You Shall Surely Heal, and the Journal of Halacha and Contemporary Society in the area of family law, bioethics, contracts and securities law addressing the interface of Halakha and American law. Rabbi Warburg earned his rabbinic ordination from RIETS and his doctorate of jurisprudence from the Hebrew University Faculty of Law. Rabbi Warburg and his wife Resa live in Teaneck, NJ. A few years ago, Rabbi Warburg filed an amicus brief with the US Supreme Court in the case of EEOC v. Hosanna-Tabor Evangelical Lutheran Church and School, Michigan (2010) on behalf of the institution of beth din as a vehicle for adjudicating matters for the American Jewish community and his essay on child custody was cited by Israel’s Supreme Court in the 1980 holding Nir v. Nir. He earned his rabbinic ordination at Yeshiva University, his dr. of jurisprudence (dr.juris.) at the Hebrew University Faculty of Law, MA at New York University and MS at Ferkauf Graduate School.
