At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America, held by conference call, on Wednesday, July 22, 2015, President Leonard Matanky in the chair, and Reuven Tradburks acting on behalf of the secretary, the following item was decided:
- A motion to nominate Shmuel Goldin (chair), Evelyn Fruchter, Abby Lerner, Haskel Lookstein, Bethany Mandel, Yona Reiss, Bracha Rutner, Shana Yocheved Schacter, Yaakov Shulman, Adam Starr, and Kalman Topp to serve on a GPS Report Implementation Committee member passed.
Additional matters discussed:
- Leonard Matanky reported on the joint effort with the OU concerning the Iran Nuclear Agreement.
- Ira Ebbin, chairman of the 2015 Nominations Committee, reported that the Committee erred in approving the Nominations Commmittee’s nomination of Efrem Goldberg to run for Southeast Region Vice President, since he held that position for the past 2 years. His name will not appear on the ballot.
- Binyamin Blau, chairman of the Semicha Standards Committee, reported that following an in-person meeting, Rav Zalman Nehemiah Goldberg agreed that his semicha should no longer be accepted as an approved RCA private semicha since it does not meet RCA standards. His semicha will no longer be included on the RCA’s list of approved private semichot.
