Physical and Sexual Abuse of Children 1993

Jun 1, 1993 — RESOLUTION: PHYSICAL & SEXUAL ABUSE OF CHILDREN
WHEREAS, the members of the Rabbinical Council of America in convention have resolved to call upon:
1. Schools, synagogues, and youth organizations to adopt policies which mandate the dismissal of abusive teachers and child care workers from their positions, and the notification of future potential employers of the circumstances of their dismissal.
2. Synagogues and schools to run programs which educate parents, teachers, and youth workers to recognize the signs of possible abuse of their children.
3. Curricula must be developed for our schools to train our children in how to recognize abuse and how to avoid it.
4. Clinics and other resources should be established to aid the abused who seek help and to provide counseling for the abusers in order to prevent future incidents.
