Rabbi Kenneth N. Hain

Rabbi of Congregation Beth Sholom, Lawrence, New York, Elected President of the Rabbinical Council of America

Rabbi Kenneth N. Hain of Lawrence, New York was elected president of the Rabbinical Council of America, the world’s largest Orthodox rabbinic organization, at its Sixty-Third Annual National Convention at the Homowack Resort Hotel, Spring Glen, New York.

Rabbi Steven M. Since 1988 Rabbi Hain has served as spiritual leader of Congregation Beth Sholom of Lawrence, New York, the oldest Orthodox synagogue on Long Island’s Nassau County. Rabbi Hain, prior to that, was Rabbi of Congregation Orach Chaim in Manhattan’s Upper East Side for eleven years. He was Assistant Rabbi at Fifth Avenue Synagogue, New York City, and was Rabbi of United Orthodox Synagogue in Houston, Texas, his first rabbinical position, 1972 -1976.

A native of Danville, Virginia, Rabbi Hain was educated and ordained at Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. He has taught Judaic Studies at Stern College of Yeshiva University and for five years served as a director at Yeshiva University’s RIETS Division of Communal Services.

Rabbi Hain has lectured widely throughout the country, including the 92nd Street Y, Israel Bonds, UJA-Federation, and the Orthodox Union, and has published numerous articles in Jewish Journals and publications.

Rabbi Hain is also Honorary President of the Rabbinic Alumni of RIETS-YU and is a member of the Rabbinic Advisory Council of UJA-Federation.

Rabbi Hain and his wife, Nancy, proud parents and grandparents, reside in Lawrence, New York.
