The Rabbinical Council of America Expresses Shock at Shootings in El Paso and Dayton

August 4, 2019

The Rabbinical Council of America, the leading organization of orthodox rabbis in North America, expresses its shock and dismay at the mass shootings in El Paso, TX, and Dayton, OH. We pray that the families of those murdered or injured will find a measure of solace knowing that the thoughts of an entire nation are with them in their time of need.

We extend our gratitude to the first responders who risked their lives once again to save others. These brave men and women are an inspiration to us all and prove that in the face of evil, goodness can and will shine forth. Rabbi Daniel Korobkin, president of the RCA, said, “The United States is once again thrust into mourning, grief, and anger over the recent shootings. Times like this require us to come together as one nation to condemn violence and hatred. As President Trump stated, ‘Hate has no place in our country.’” At this time when Jews world-wide recall the hatred that led to the destruction of our holy Temples in Jerusalem, we call upon our communities, clergy, and elected leaders to join together in the pursuit of peace, understanding and harmony. Together we can heal our nation and find solutions to this growing epidemic of hatred and violence.
