2010 Convention Resolution: Dialogue and Partnering with the Greater Orthodox Organizational World

Whereas the Rabbinical Council of America is the proud home of Orthodoxy; a large tent under which we truly strive to occupy the vast center of mainstream Halachic thought and practice; and

Whereas there are individuals and groups on either ideological side of us who do not choose to join us, since they feel that their agendas are too dissimilar from those of the RCA to consider joining our membership We respect their right to differ in the spirit of אלו ואלו דברי אלקים חיים (these and these are the words of the Living God); and

Whereas we live in complicated times, when religion in general, and Orthodox Judaism in particular, is under attack, much good could be derived from a greater unity of purpose between all responsible segments of Orthodox Judaism;

The Rabbinical Council of America therefore resolves:

• To make a conscious effort to reach out to and provide a regular forum for dialogue with other Rabbinical and communal organizations, and to seek to partner with them whenever appropriate on making public statements and pronouncements.

• That a standing committee be appointed for the purpose of these contacts, and communication be sent to other Orthodox organizations to do the same, so that, whenever possible, statements can be issued in a joint and united fashion.
