Our hearts go out to the citizens of Haiti, reeling from this week’s devastating earthquake. We pray that God will sustain and heal the injured; protect those still in dire need; and give solace to the bereaved.
We urge all citizens of the world, and all of our fellow Jews, to band together in support of the victims of this terrible tragedy. We commend the many countries, organizations and individuals who are lending personal and material support.
We urge all members of our own organization, the Rabbinical Council of America, to determine the avenues of support available in your own community, to make them known to your congregants, and to encourage all to assist with a full heart. We recommend that contributions be directed to the Joint Distribution Committee.
In particular we urge and encourage all RCA members to offer appropriate prayers at Shabbat and other services on behalf of all who are suffering so greatly.
