December 11, 2019 – The Rabbinical Council of America, the leading membership organization of Orthodox rabbis in North America, mourns the loss of innocent lives in the gun battles in Jersey City, attacks that led to the deaths of Detective Joseph Seals of the Jersey City Police, as well as three innocent bystanders at the JC Kosher Supermarket including Leah Munda Ferencz and Moshe Deutsch, of blessed memories.
Rabbi
Daniel Korobkin, president of the RCA, said, “Ongoing reports
increasingly indicate that the store was targeted in an anti-Semitic
attack. The events remind us once again of the dangerous and deadly
virus that is anti-Semitism. We express our condolences to and
solidarity with the Jewish community in Jersey City, and our confidence
in the authorities’ abilities to investigate and address the issues that
will arise.”
Rabbi Binyamin Blau, vice president of the RCA, said, “We express our heartfelt condolences to the families of the innocent victims and our appreciation to the family of Det. Seals who paid the ultimate price while fulfilling his duty in protecting the community.”
