Rabbi Yehuda Sarna serves as the University Chaplain at New York University and as the Executive Director of the Bronfman Center for Jewish Student Life at NYU. He is on the faculty of the Robert F. Wagner School of Public Service, and is a co-founder of the Of Many Institute for Multifaith Leadership, where he serves as a Senior Fellow. A musmach of YU/RIETS, Rabbi Sarna came to NYU in 2002, when he and his wife, Michelle, served as the first OU/JLIC educators at NYU. Having established the Orthodox student community, Rabbi Sarna founded the Jewish Learning Fellowship (JLF), a series of ten-week courses designed for students who did not receive any formal secondary Jewish education. The Fellowship, with over 1000 NYU alumni, has become a national model and is now replicated on dozens of campuses around the U.S. He was recognized by Hillel International as an "Exemplar of Excellence" (2008) and by the New York Jewish Week as one of "36-under-36 Changemakers" (2009). Rabbi Sarna is the editor of The Koren Shabbat Evening Siddur (2011) and Toward a Jewish Perspective on Culture (2013), a volume in the Orthodox Forum Series. He is the subject of an award-winning documentary entitled Of Many, which premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2014 and aired nationally on ABC in 2017.
