Rabbi Anthony Manning

Rabbi Anthony Manning was born and raised in Leeds, in the north of England, and subsequently studied law and gained a Masters from Oxford University. After marrying Sarah Lyons in 1991, Rabbi Manning moved to London to start a corporate legal career, specializing in real estate development, and was a partner of a City of London law practice. He gave up a successful legal career in 2002 when he moved with his family to Israel to become a Rabbi and teacher. Since then, he has taught in many educational institutions in Jerusalem, as well as lecturing widely in Israel, England and North America. Since 2017 he has been Co-Director of Midreshet Tehillah, having moved from MMY where he was the senior rabbinic educator for many years. Rabbi Manning is also a senior lecturer at Shapell’s/Midreshet Rachel and gives a regular weekly shiur at the OU Israel Center in Jerusalem. Apart from his legal studies at Oxford, Rabbi Manning learned in Yeshivat Etz Chaim in London, Yeshivat Hamivtar in Efrat, Yeshivat Ateret Yisrael in Bayit Vegan, and in The Jerusalem Kollel of Rav Yitzchak Berkovits. He has semicha Yore Yore from Rav Berkovits, semichot from Rav Zalman Nechemia Goldberg and has been a member of the RCA since 2012. Rabbi Manning lives with his wife Sarah in Alon Shevut. In recent years their son and daughter finished their national service - Asher in an IDF combat unit and Yael in Sherut Leumi working with special needs children – and both are b’H married and living in Eretz Yisrael.
