Rabbi Ian Lichter received his rabbinic ordination from the Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University. He earned his Master’s degree in Education and Administration from Azrieli Graduate School. From 2006-08, Rabbi Lichter was the rabbinic intern under Rabbi Penner at the Young Israel of Holliswood and the Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Shomrei Torah in Fairlawn, NJ under Rabbi Yudin from 2008-10. Since 2010, he has served as the Assistant Rabbi of the Great Neck Synagogue in Great Neck, Long Island, where he is involved in all areas of communal growth. Rabbi Lichter strives to provide both inspiring and practical shiurim and drashot for his shul as well as a caring and compassionate ear for his congregants. Additionally, he is a Talmud Instructor at North Shore Hebrew Academy’s Middle School and High School. Rabbi Lichter grew up in Plainview and enjoyed a wonderful relationship with the Mora d’asra, Rabbi Portnoy z”l, in the Young Israel of Plainview. He attended Hebrew Academy of Nassau County and Yeshivat Reishit Yerushalayim prior to attending Yeshiva University. Rabbi Lichter and his wife Katie (nee Leifer of Hillcrest NY) have together undertaken to bring a dynamic spirit of warmth, Torah growth and care to their wonderful community. They enjoy every minute of the excitement and nachas that their four children, Zechariah (11), Yonina (9), Gavi, (7) and Yaffa (5) bring to their lives.
