Rabbi Eliezer Langer has been rabbi of Congregation Schomre Israel of Poughkeepsie, NY since September 2014.
Rabbi Langer brought to his new community a wealth of experience as a pulpit rabbi, having served congregations in Austin, Texas; San Diego, California; Albany, New York and Oshawa, Ontario. He and his wife, Lucy, have lived in Isael where he served as assistant dean of Midreshet Moriah, a post high school program for women, in Jerusalem. He is an experienced teacher who has taught at many different levels. He has been a lecturer at the college and university levels, taught teenagers and high school students, and he has taught classes for his congregants and the community. He and his wife directed a nursery program in Albany which grew to become Maimonides Hebrew Day School.
Rabbi Langer received semicha from Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary of Yeshiva University.
