Rabbi Dr. Aaron E. Glatt currently serves as Assistant to the Rabbi at the Young Israel of Woodmere as well as Assistant Rabbi at Congregation Anshei Chesed in Hewlett, NY. He continues to give a Daf Yomi shiur at the Young Israel of Woodmere, in addition to a weekly gemara be’iyun shiur, halacha shiurim, and other classes. He has authored Women in the Talmud and Visiting the Sick: A halachic and medical guide, which is full of practical advice, as well as halachic journal articles. He learned at YU and received semicha from Rabbi Avraham Tzvi Wosner at Machon LeTorah Vehora’ah.

Rabbi Dr. Glatt also serves as Executive Vice President / Chief Administrative Officer at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Center Long Island. Previously, he was President & CEO of St. Joseph Hospital in Bethpage, NY, and a full Professor of Infectious Diseases and former Associate Dean at NY Medical College. Prior to that, he served as Chair of Medicine at Our Lady of Mercy Medical Center (Bronx), and Chief of Infectious Diseases at St. Vincent Catholic Medical Centers (Brooklyn/Queens).

Rabbi Dr. Glatt earned his BA and was class valedictorian from Yeshiva University in 1979, and received his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians & Surgeons (NYC) in 1983. He did his internship, residency, and chief residency in internal medicine at Brookdale Hospital Medical Center (Brooklyn), and a fellowship in infectious diseases at SUNY Health Sciences Center (Brooklyn). He is board certified in internal medicine and infectious diseases.

The author of 200 journal articles and presentations at national meetings, he was guest editor of a book for the Infectious Diseases Clinic of North America and infectious diseases editor of Dorland’s Medical Dictionary. He served on editorial boards of major publications and on many government, hospital, medical school and public health committees. He is a spokesperson for the Infectious Disease Society of America.

Rabbi Dr. Glatt has been a scholar-in-residence and an invited international speaker throughout the world and throughout the United States on a wide variety of Jewish & medical subjects.
