At a meeting of the Executive Committee of the Rabbinical Council of America, held by conference call, on Wed., Feb. 1, 2023, President Binyamin Blau in the chair, and Reuven Tradburks acting on behalf of the secretary, the following items were decided:
Binyamin Blau reported on the appointment of Ronnie Schwarzberg as the new Chair of the Retirement Funds Committee, replacing the late William Herskowitz, ז”ל, who served as the chair faithfully for many years. Zvi Engel and Noah Cheses are developing a project of enlisting lawyers who will work pro bono on behalf of rabbis in contract negotiations. The new RCA Madrich is completed and being printed by Koren. Some of its material will be available, as well, online. Every RCA member will be receiving a free copy. The RCA is planning a Yom Iyun for March 15 for professional development in New York that will focus on pre-Pesach themes as well as kashrut updates for Pesach.
A motion to approve the Nominating Committee of Daniel Korobkin, Chair; Roy Feldman; Shaanan Gelman; Daniel Yolkut; and Ira Kronenberg passed unanimously.
A motion to approve Ben Kelsen as chair of the Elections Committee passed unanimously.
Reuven Tradburks, RCA representative in Israel, reported on the shiva visits made on behalf of the RCA, together with Shaul Robinson, to the families of six of the victims of the terrorist attack in Neve Yaakov last Shabbat.
