RCA Reaffirms Solidarity With and Commitment to State of Israel

The Rabbinical Council of America in convention assembled

Reaffirms its solidarity with the State of Israel, as a visible sign of God’s covenant and eternal promise to the Jewish people;

Reaffirms its abiding commitment to the State of Israel and to its principles of democracy and freedom, its courageous efforts to receive Jews from every corner of the world and for the sacrifices Israel has made in the cause of peace;

Continues to pray for her greater security and expanding peace between Israel and her neighbors and pledges to continue its spiritual and economic support of the State;

Acknowledges with pride and thankfulness the historic support which the United States has provided Israel since its creation, as an expression of the fact that Israel has demonstrated itself to be America’s most loyal and dependable friend in the Middle East;

Reaffirms the right of Jews to live throughout the historic borders of Eretz Yisrael, regardless of the ultimate political formula adopted between Israel and its neighbors;

Reaffirms it unalterable opposition to the creation of a Palestinian State;

Supports Israel’s efforts to resist terrorism, and prevent casualties, the destruction of property and the breakdown of civic order;

Supports Israel’s refusal to recognize the terrorist PLO organization as the legitimate spokesman for the Palestinian Arab people;

Calls upon the United States government to review its dialogue with the PLO in light of the PLO’s continued involvement with and support of terrorist activities and threats around the world;

Reaffirms its commitment to a united Jerusalem as the eternal capital of the State of Israel;

Strongly urges the transfer of the American Embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem;

Calls upon American Jews to cease and desist from publicly interfering in Israel’s political life, by criticizing her policies and internal processes;

Continues to stand firmly behind the Chief Rabbinate and all of its Halachic decisions and recommendations as they apply to the State of Israel;

Reaffirms its own efforts to bring about a rapprochement between secular and religious groups in Israel in cooperation with like-minded organizations and groups in Israel;

Calls upon it s membership, to continue to support the State of Israel and its people by very spiritual, political and economic means possible;

Urges its membership to continue to give full support to the United States Appeal, Israel Bonds, Jewish National Fund, as well as other charitable and educational endeavors, especially Yeshivat Hadarom and Yeshivat Ahuzat Yaakov and other RCA programs in Israel;

Calls upon the religious communities within Israeli society, to reach out to all our fellow Jews with love and understanding, and for all Jews within Israel, secular and religious, to seek to understand each other and to live in peace;

Calls upon its members and their congregations to encourage Aliyah to Israel, in order to help populate the country, develop its industrial and professional services and help to enhance the religious dimensions of the country and fulfill Mitzvot Yishuv Haaretz.
