What is the RCA Mental Health Line?

A confidential service providing short-term mental health sessions for RCA members and their spouses.

Who is eligible?

RCA members and their spouses. Each family may access up to four sessions per calendar year.

How is confidentiality handled?

Sessions are private and held via secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms. Confidentiality is maintained within legal and ethical limits.

Who are the volunteers?

Licensed mental health professionals who are RCA members or spouses, all vetted for credentials and experience.

How do I schedule?

Use the online portal to choose a volunteer and time slot.

Can my spouse and I both participate?

Yes, but for separate issues, separate volunteers should be used. For joint concerns, such as marital issues, the same volunteer may be selected.

Is this therapy?

No. This is a session to help you assess your situation. It is not a substitute for therapy or treatment.

Are referrals provided?

General guidance may be offered, but no formal referrals will be made.

Is there a cost?

The service is free of charge, supported by RCA and volunteer professionals.

What feedback can I offer?

A short anonymous feedback form will be emailed to you post-session.

Can I choose my volunteer?

Available bios and listed specialties will help guide your selection.

What if I need to cancel?

Use the platform to cancel or reschedule. Please provide 24 hours’ notice.

What technology is used?

Phone or HIPAA-compliant video service.

Can I schedule a session for someone else?

Only RCA members or their spouses may schedule for themselves. However, guidance may be given regarding issues involving others.

Are children of rabbis eligible?

Only if a parent initiates the call on their behalf.

How are volunteers vetted?

All must hold valid licensure and be vetted by RCA.

What if I exceed my session limit?

The program is limited to four sessions per family per calendar year to ensure wide access.
