Rabbi Steven Miodownik is the Rabbi of Congregation Ahavas Achim in Highland Park, NJ. He first came to the shul in 2000 as Assistant Rabbi and become the Rabbi in 2006. As the rabbi of a 300-family shul, Rabbi Miodownik is the founder of Ahavas Achim University, the shul's well-regarded adult education institute, and maintains a focus on youth activities and adult education. He is a member of the Vaad Harabonim of Raritan Valley, and serves as the rabbinic liaison to the Park Mikvah in Highland Park. He is a mentor to rabbinic interns from Yeshiva University's Rabbi Isaac Elchanan Theological Seminary, and participates in rabbinic training programs at RIETS. Rabbi Miodownik also serves as a Middle School Judaic Studies teacher at the Rabbi Pesach Raymon Yeshiva in Edison, NJ, where he has been teaching since 2000 and is noted for his creative and engaging teaching style. After being raised in West Hempstead, NY, Rabbi Miodownik attended Yeshivat Ohr Yerushalayim in Beit Meir, Israel, and graduated from the Sy Syms School of Business with a degree in Marketing in 1996. He then continued his studies at RIETS, receiving his semicha in 2000. He simultaneously earned his Masters in Secondary Education from the Azrieli Graduate School of Jewish Studies. Rabbi Miodownik is married to Gila (nee Silbiger), who in addition to being an active rebbetzin and numerous other volunteer activities works as a pediatric physical therapist. They are blessed with four children, Arielle, Kayla, Sam, and Rosa.
